Since his graduation research, Professor Kurabuchi has been working in the field of indoor air quality and ventilation. He is now working to examine the "sick house" problem, promotion of energy conservation in homes through the use of ventilation, and other issues. He interacts with overseas researchers through symposiums and other venues for collaboration.

After studying building environment engineering at university, Professor Nagai worked for a construction company, and was involved in research on building equipment and real-world design. After that, he switched to a research career, and he has been with the Tokyo University of Science since April 2005. He is engaged in research on thermal systems comprised of buildings and air-conditioning systems, and his current topics of interest include: dynamic optimization of air-conditioning operation control using the heat capacity of the building frame, and development of methods to measure insulation performance in homes.
